Let the little ones fall in love with cycling
As passionate cyclists it will come as no surprise to hear that we want to encourage the next generation to step away from the gadgets and follow us out into the great outdoors. With the school holidays now in full swing there’s no better time to plant that seed and introduce them to the world of cycling (or reignite their interest with some fresh new kit!).
A lot of us will have mixed memories of family bike rides when we were younger, whether you were chomping at the bit to get out there and ride or having to be dragged away from the comfort of the sofa. The family ride was a summer holiday right of passage that either sparked your love for cycling or had you swearing never to touch a bike again.
When the Altura team reminisced about our youthful cycling endeavours a common trend would always rear its head, tales of dubious kit choices taking the shine off what should have been joyous memories. Whether it be getting stuck in a tropical downpour with nothing but a sweaty kagoul between us and the elements or flashbacks to the horrors of riding in jeans (it’s a wonder we ever chose to get back on a bike!).
All of these factors have helped inform the creation of our most comprehensive kids range yet. We believe that if we’re to inspire the little ones in our lives to fall in love with cycling then our best chance is to kit them out in high performing, comfortable and stylish apparel. The latest additions to our Kids Spark mountain biking range includes everything kids need for a great day out on the trails whatever the weather. The Spark Trail Pant features an environmentally friendly PFC free DWR coating, helping to repel water and mud, keeping kids riding comfortably for longer. A clever adjustable waistband and belt loops means the Trail Pant grows with your child, while the durable construction ensures they hold up to the type of abuse only they can dish out!
Our Spark Kid’s Jacket is an advanced waterproof shell constructed with an excellent 10k waterproof rated fabric that will keep them dry in the heaviest of downpours. We’ve also baked in a raft of features you’d typically find on our adults range such as a large adjustable hood that will fit over their helmet, zipped pockets to keep valuables safe and reflective details to help them stay visible in all light conditions.
While we can’t promise our kit will help avoid all of the grumbles and tantrums that come part and parcel with family bike rides, you can at least rest easy knowing it won’t be the cause.
